Mesoamerican Ballgames

Cultural Aspect
Proxy and warfare The Mesoamerican Ball Game was a political and religious practice. Sometimes it was a substitute for the typical warfare and human sacrifice was sometimes involved.RuleThe ball players could only use their head, shoulder, hips and to hit the ball. The two team players lined up parallel to the long axis playing field. Shooting the ball through the ring was how a team would win the game automatically. The goal was to kill as much of the enemy as possible. Captives of higher status were victims of human sacrifice, while the commoners were slaves.
